Saying Toodles to England
Well, in a little bit I take the train to the airport and then head home. I hate to say it but:
Finally!
Now, don't get me wrong here. I have had a great trip. But I am just really excited about returning home.
What is the first thing I am going to do when I get home? The first thing I always do, go up to my room and say hello to my books. All this really means is looking at them and the rest of my room and seeing that it is still there. And now I also have Amadeus to say hello to! But I'll actually pull him out of his case and give him a few strums.
The second thing I usually do is open up my laptop and check my email and rss feeds. This time though, in light of recent news, I will be working on getting my old old laptop (from 2002! Oh my!) working with Linux so I have something to use until I find a replacement for Hank.
[It looks like Hank's replacement will be found soon enough but I doubt that they will be shipping immediately. So it will probably be a couple weeks. ☹]
Here is the list of the things that I am most looking forward to:
- My kitchen. It is like they say, water doesn't taste as good from someone else's Nalgene and someone else's computer isn't as much fun to use. Food just tastes better from my kitchen. Plus, I'll have food I know and trust there. Like skim milk which I have not had in ages!
- My digital friends. I know I have actually had internet here, and in France, but it is difficult being on opposite sides of the world from them. We are never online at the same time. (I don't know how you do it Peter!). So being back in the Pacific Timezone will be great for communicating with most of you!
- My parents! It'll be nice to see you two again!
- My bike. I am going to start biking a lot!
- Amadeus. I know I haven't been a guitar player for that long, but I miss it. Everytime my fingernails grow out long (I have had to trim them twice I think since I left) I am reminded that I haven't had to keep them short for the guitar and it makes me sad.
- The three houses. I can't wait to see them all again. Though, now that it is a school year, I don't know how much I'll actually see them.
Portland, here I come!

keeping in touch is a pain in the ass when you're 13 or so hours ahead of everyone.
hope you had (or are having) a great trip back! and don't forget to make a nice bowl of mac n cheese to say welcome home!
